Let me give you a little overview of me, from the beginning. From a young age I actually wanted to be a PE teacher – All I cared about was sport – In fact, I lived and breathed it throughout my childhood and young adulthood.
After university, I managed to wing myself a place on a paid teaching program, but sadly my mum fell poorly and so I chose to give this up to go home and help my Dad care for her.
I wanted to stay around my family and so fell into a job within marketing. I achieved a lot within my career and ended up setting up my own consultancy which I ran for around 10 years. However, it never ticked all the boxes for me.
I moved to Dorset three years ago and after learning one of my uni friends had received successful laser hair removal treatment, I decided to give it a go as a client.
After a few sessions, I was extremely impressed and saw a niche in the local market and so started doing some research into how I could go about doing this myself.
I think my family thought I was crackers as I had no experience in this industry whatsoever. But what I knew I had was an entrepreneurial flare, a strong business background and the drive and determination to make it successful.
I successfully marketed the business and very early on, learnt lots of additional skills, to the point that within the first year, I was fully booked.
I upskilled to a Level 4 regulated practitioner and then took my teaching and assessing qualification. I now run a very successful clinic, which I am able to fit around my two children and two step-children.
And for the first time in my life – I LOVE my job. I love everything about it and I’m extremely proud of what I have achieved in a relatively short period of time.
I pride myself on my knowledge of laser and also my business and marketing knowledge and how to gain and maintain clients. All too often I hear of practitioners giving up at the first hurdle, but my business model is tried and tested and works and it works extremely well.
